The Gingerbread Escape

The Gingerbread Man raced through the Village and came across a Potter surrounded by colourful creations. “Wait!” called the Potter. “You can't leave without making something!” The Gingerbread Man stopped for just a moment. “I'd love to,” he said, “but I'm being chased!” Before he ran off, he left something hiding near the creations.

The Gingerbread Man continued running until he spotted something sweet. Menchie’s Treat Supplier was preparing a delicious display with colourful gumdrop buttons. “Those look delicious!” said the Gingerbread Man. “You're welcome to stay for a treat,” said the Treat Supplier. But the Gingerbread Man knew he couldn't stop. “I have somewhere to be!” He grabbed a gumdrop button and ran.

The Gingerbread Man ran past Bright's Art Gallery and caught the eye of an Artist. “Hold still!” called the Artist. “I want to paint you!” The Gingerbread Man stopped and posed for just a second. Then he remembered... He was still being chased! He jumped up and raced away, leaving something behind.

All that running was making the Gingerbread Man hungry. He stopped at the Greekery and met a Barista. “Would you like something warm to drink?” asked the Barista. “Maybe later!” said the Gingerbread Man. “But you look tired.” “I can't stop! They'll catch me!” With that, he raced away. But he left something behind near the patio.

The Gingerbread Man ran into Jack & Maddy’s Toy Maker busy making wonderful toys. “Come look!” called the Toy Maker. The Gingerbread Man stopped to admire the toys. He picked one up. He put it down. He picked up another. “Oh dear,” he said. “I really must keep running!” Just as he dashed away, something fell from his pocket.

Suddenly, the Gingerbread Man heard music! He stopped running. He started dancing. The Village Musician played a tune, and for a moment, the Gingerbread Man completely forgot that he was supposed to be escaping. Then he heard someone coming! “Oh crumbs!” He dropped the next clue on the stage and ran.

The Gingerbread Man followed his nose. Chocolate! He had discovered Rocky Mountain Chocolate. The Chocolatier was surrounded by delicious chocolate creations. “Would you like to try one?” asked the Chocolatier. The Gingerbread Man looked very tempted. “Just one!” But before he could take a bite, he remembered he was on the run. He left his next clue and disappeared.

The Gingerbread Man raced toward the mountain. Suddenly... “STOP!” A Ski Patroller had spotted him. “Where are you going in such a hurry?” The Gingerbread Man grinned. “You'll never catch me!” And off he went, racing as fast as his little gingerbread legs could carry him. But he dropped something along the way, at the blue hut near the base of the mountain.

The Gingerbread Man was getting chilly. He ran into Roots and spotted a warm collection of clothing. “This is just what I need!” he said. The Clothier held up something cozy. “Perfect for a Gingerbread Man on the run!” The Gingerbread Man wrapped himself up, but then remembered he couldn't stay. He dropped his next clue just outside the door as he raced away.

The Gingerbread Man spotted something colourful ahead. Candy! He had found the Candy Maker at Happy Valley. “Come see what I've made!” called the Candy Maker. The Gingerbread Man stopped to admire all the sweet treats. “Everything looks delicious!” But then he remembered... He was supposed to be running! As he left the candy store, he left his next clue and dashed away.

The Gingerbread Man smelled something warm and delicious. He followed the smell and found the Grilled Cheese Maker. “Would you like to try my special grilled cheese?” asked the Maker. “That sounds amazing!” The Gingerbread Man stopped for a quick snack. But he couldn't stay. “Run, run, as fast as you can!” He left a clue near the Cheezed benches he sat in and raced away.

The Gingerbread Man had been running all day. But then he spotted ice cream! “Perfect!” he cried. The Ice Cream Maker offered him a scoop. The Gingerbread Man took one lick. “Yum!” Then another. “Yummier!” But suddenly he heard footsteps. “OH CRUMBS!” He ran off as fast as he could, leaving his next letter behind.

The Gingerbread Man was almost out of breath. But he smelled something freshly baked. He had reached Beavertails. “Where are you going?” asked the Baker. "I can't tell you!” cried the Gingerbread Man. “Why not?” “Because someone might catch me!” He looked behind him. Nothing. He looked in front of him. Then he smiled. “I think I've finally found the perfect place to hide!” The Gingerbread Man dropped his final letter and disappeared.
