Derek McLean

Derek McLean has been part of the Georgian Triangle’s vibrant music community for 26 years, both as a solo artist as a member of Strange Potatoes. Recently, he has been doing weekend tours with Shipyard Kitchen Party and their Newfoundland Songbook show. Most of his shows involve taking requests from the audience, which allows him to interact and cater each performance to the group that is there on any given day or night. With around four decades of experience playing live, Derek has been fortunate to play all over Ontario. Depending on the requests that come up, you might hear music from the 1950s right up to the 2020s, as well as rock, pop, alternative, folk, country and, on occasion, rap and hip-hop tunes – it all depends on who is listening!
